Welcome to Heating up the Kitchen, the personal site of Duncan MacTavish.

Heating up the Kitchen is a creative outlet for me to explore several of my greater passions– food, sex and writing – all of which I’d like to think I have an affinity for.

You can expect (and hopefully anticipate) articles about sexuality and food, opinions and writings of sexual desires whether they be fact or fiction. I will share with you the pleasure, romance, erotica, humor and a bit of history.

Visitors to this blog will hopefully experience how we are influenced with food and sex, and how they can literally go hand in hand, whether it is popcorn, a movie and snuggling, a glass of wine and appetizers to get in the mood to tell stories to close friends or lovers, experiencing a course meal for a romantic and memorable evening such as an engagement pr marriage proposal, or downright having fun sharing luscious bits of fruit and nuts, taking a bath in warm chocolate and peppermint schnapps.

Sexual exploration is completely normal although determining the ‘norm’ when it comes to sex is difficult. Some may not find all aspects of food-play normal, but in my experience, I can attest that if you haven’t tried it then you really don’t know what you are missing. As you progress with your experimenting, you will determine your one wants and needs, so you may not find everything here to your taste. But just let yourself go, have fun and experience as much as you can and are willing.

Marital aids such as sex toys can enhance emotional and physical bonds such as intimacy, pleasure and communication, but in my opinion, they don’t hold a candle to using foods for the same reasons. Now using both – well, that is a story for another day.

One last point of discussion- I believe in safer sex and think it is the responsibility of those with knowledge to educate those without. When experimenting with food and sex, basic precautions need to be taken, by using only clean, healthy and fresh foods, cleanliness of the body and surroundings. Special attention needs to be taken if playing with raw meats and proteins, regardless if you are preparing food for a meal, playing with your food, or prepare food after playing.
